The Tigers came into Friday night’s match up with John Ehret needing another district victory to stay close to the two first place teams, East St. John and Destrehan. The Tigers came out of the gates very hot and broke out to any early lead that the Patriots could not overcome. The Tigers started off their first possession of the game and put together a seven play 75 yard scoring drive. The drive was capped off by a 2-yard touchdown rush by Terrance Issac with 6:38 remaining in the first quarter. The Tigers would get on the board again in the first with a 28-yard field goal by Robbie Broach to extend the lead to 10-0. Hahnville would score once again in the first with a 58-yard touchdown run by Issac with 12 seconds left in the first. Broach's PAT was good and the Tigers led 17-0.
The second quarter started a lot like the first. The Tiger defense continued to hold the Patriots in check. The Tiger offense continued its dominance and even pulled out some trips. With 9:43 left in the half, quarterback Early James dropped back and threw a lateral pass to receiver Brian Singleton. Singleton then stepped back and hurled a 52-yard touchdown pass to Laron Byrd. Broach's PAT was good and the Tigers extended their lead to 24-0.
The defense continued to force the Patriots into three and out positions. The Tiger offense took advantage of Ehret inability to move the ball. Early James connected with Issac for a 29-yard touchdown with 5:14 left in the half. The PAT was good and the Tigers led 31-0. The following kickoff was fumbled by the Patriots and the Tigers recovered on their own 46 yard line. Two plays later James connected with Gerren Stipe for a 28-yard touchdown. The Tigers converted the PAT and led 38-0 with 4:08 left in the half. Ehret would finally get on the board with a 28-yard touchdown pass late in the second half. Unfortunately for them, the Tiger offense would answer with a four play 60 yard scoring drive with 4 seconds remaining in the half. The Tigers would go into halftime with a commanding 45-7 lead.
Both teams would score only once in the second half. The Tiger's second half score came when James connected with Singleton for his second touchdown of the night. The Tiger would go on to a 52-14 victory. The Tigers will take on cross town rival Destrehan at home next Friday. Destrehan is coming into the game as one of the only undefeated teams in the state.
